From the Driver's Seat- Well, another Great Fair Car Show with 12 full days of fun and looking at cars! We had SEVERAL new cars and trucks this year we have not seen before, including mine. We always love to see new cars. We had a total of 80 wonderful vehicles. The Cruise in the Coast really hurt us this year, but I understand our memberfs that went to this HUGE MOVING CAR SHOW, and they said it was wonderful. We did great on the trailer we raffled off. We made a total of $2,171.34, after expenses, which will go to the Blair Batson Children's Hospital. The winner was Martin Hull from Terry, MS. We made $604.00 on the car mats. We still have car mats to sell, hint hint. Our very own Algie Broome provided the background music again this year, and installed the attendance counter. We had a 46,007 count last year and this year we had a 46,680 count. Thats a lot of folks looking at ourcars!! Our banquet was great! Hammils did a wonderful job AGAIN! We had exccellent entertainment this year. A friend of ours, and his wife from church, Fred and Sue Lytle came and he did his comedy routine of "Big Elvis". He had a costume that revealed a rather large Elvis and the wig was litterally a "wig" itself. He was hilarious! We had about 75 folks at eh Banquet, and we had a great time. A couple of folks went home with a scarf. Thank you all for your help with this show. No job is too small, and everything you did was appreciated. Every one helped things run smoother. A special thankd to Rick and Donna Lang, and Steve and Gloric=a Laudermilk. They are new members anbd we want to thank both couples for thier willingness to pitch in and help with the ticket sales. We all gave Steve and Gloria Laudermilk the Sales Award for the fair! Man, you talk about selling tickets; you should have seen them work. THanks to you two we would not have had near the success this year or the essentially, as much dontation to the Children's Hospital. This is the kind of new members our club needed. These people see a need fro something to be done, "dive in and do it." We had a wonderful Fair Registration Membership drive this year, and We signed up 5 new members before the fair and 19 during the fair. We now have 151 family memberships in our club!! I hope to see you all at the next meeting, Nov 15th at 2:30pm at eh agricultural museum. Now, let's roll while having fun! P.S. Reminder to everyone about the wonderful trip Saturday, March 15 to Prairieville, LA to visit Jerry & Beverly Noble's private museum and have a wonderful lunch prepared by the famous caterer, Beverly. This will be a super trip and I know you won't to miss this. We will meet at 8:00 a.m. at the Jackson Square Shopping Center off I-55 South. I have 34 registered so far.
