Our September meeting produced good attendance in the Masonic Lodge at the Agriculture Museum. Plans were laid out for the State Fair Show and the Raffle car to be given away. On everyone’s mind were the horrible events of a few days prior that will forever stay with us. All agree that we are fortunate to live in the United States. It evident that we should not be complaisant about the need for our country’s protection or the knowledge that we still are vulnerable to those who would hate us for whatever reason. The State Fair Car Show was a tremendous success even though it was plagued with bad weather at the end. Members extended a lot of work on the first day of the show and daily thereafter keeping up with our cars. The professional diligence portrayed by Bob Jackman and Wayne Simpson as always was apparent in the direction of our show. Many thanks to Algie Broom for the outstanding music box he furnished. Our Gorgeous Raffle Car did it’s job by achieving success for our club and the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children. The car was won by Ben Hopper. Looks like to you need to live in Clinton, Ms to win one of our raffle cars. Thanks to all that contributed to this project in all the many ways. The AVCM is blessed with members that have a wide array of talents. Seems as though every time we have a need, someone comes forth with the ability and willingness to assist. The next meeting will be held at the Agriculture Museum in the Masonic Lodge on November 17 at 2:30 PM. There will be an announcement of the board recommendations for officers and directors as well as open nominations for additional candidates for Board positions in 2002. Lets all make plans to attend the Christmas party this year on Saturday night at 6:00 PM December 8, 2001. Lori Jackman is spearheading the festivities at this occasion and I am sure it will be a treat. The Ethnic building on the grounds at the Agriculture Museum has been reserved for the event. The club will be furnishing the meats and we are asking members to bring a covered dish. Sometime prior to the party we will organize dishes volunteered as well as identify other needs prevalent. Can you believe it? Fall is about here again. Happy Motoring!
