Celebrating Thirty Years

From the Driver's Seat- The Fair will be here soon and the board is already putting plans in action. At the last club meeting, we spent a fun rainy Saturday afternoon being educated on the dos and don'ts at preparing for a car show. Bob Jackman and Wayne Simpson shared a world of knowledge at "Getting ready for the Car Show". Those in attendance enjoyed the occasion judging by the fact that we were after 5 PM leaving the Ag Museum. There is only three months left to get ready for the State Fair Show. Our plans are to have one of the best yet. These plans include bringing in as many as possible out of the ordinary vehicles.

The World of Show & Go- is comming to the Trade Mart July 14 & 15. Many of our members have pre-registered thier cars. Our plans are to meet on July 13 at 10:30 AM at the rear of the Trade Mart building in order that we may put our cars all together. Please visit us over the weekend and join in the fun. The show has given us extra space for chairs and stuff also.

The Annual Barbecue- is right around the corner on Saturday July 28 under the Pavilion at the Ag Museum. As always we are grateful and fortunate to have Bill Phelps to do his magic at cooking fine barbecue. Please Call Melba Williams at 922-6801 to confirm attendance and advise what you are bringing to the barbecue.

The August Road Tour (scheduled meeting) will take us to Riverbend (up the Natche Trace) where we will practice the arts of cutting watermelon, eating watermelon and somties spitting out the seeds.

July and August- are being designated as Membership Drive Moths. Please bring guests if desired to either of these meetings. All current members are being challenged to bring in at least one new member to the club this calendar year. The board has agreed to suspend any new member from dues for the balance of this year.

Dues Changes Please- The board has also approved that dues will become due during October for the year 2002 and be delinquent if not paid by December 31. Pleae encourage all to support this change as it follows the time format that other clubs use to collect dues.

A Saturday night out- for Automobile enthusiast is played out at Sonic in Richland every 1st Saturday f the month. Larry Cantrell has asked me to remind everyone that we are welcomed to come and enjoy the informal fun.

June Eat our- Myrla Jent has arranged our monthly Eat-Out for 6:0 PM June 23rd at Primos Northgate Restaurant on North State St. in Jackson. Come join us for loads of fun and fellowship.

Chaplian John reports that we have recieved a very nice note of appreciation from the family of our friend Francis Ponder. He will be missed but well remembered. S.W. Bardwell and Bill Phelps are recovering nicely but we need to remember Hudson Williams who suffered some pretty serious complecations following eye srgery.
HELP! Does anyone have a new contact on George & Evelyn Tucker? Thier bulletin as returned last month without a forwarding address and I have been unable to find them-call me at 824-0434. GT

Here's a little chuckle for you borrowed from the Ark-La-Tex Piston Chatter HEARD SOME HUSBANDS TALKING- "I married Miss Wright, but I didn't know her first name was 'Always'. I haven't spoken to my wife in 18 months- I don't like to interrupt her. The last fight we had was all my fault. My wife asked whats on TV and I replied Dust. If it weren't for marriage, man would go through life thinking they had no faults at all. (OK Gals, Next month is your turn-let me hear from you).

Words of Wisdom

If you are right handed, how can you see what's on your right while talking on the phone? If you are left handed, how can you see what's on your left while talking on the phone? If you are dialing your phone, how can you see what's in front of you while looking at your phone? How can you talk on the phone and drive safely? Think about it!
