From the Driver's Seat- Well folks, I can't believe it is the end of the year.........and my last President Driver's Seat article. First I wish to say "thank you" to all our club members for keeping the club going and participating in the activities and meetings you could. We all have priorities using our time between God, family, and our jobs. This is the order in which it should be. We all can't participate in everything. Do so when you can, we always have a good time together no matter what event we're involved in at the time. Next, I wish to thank our officers and board members. We have all worked hard and have had a wonderful year with a record family membership of 155. What a busy year. We had a wonderful Christmas Party Saturday night, Dec. 13th at our new location- the Gulf Guaranty Annex Bldg. Everyone has a great time. We had a beautiful place for our party, wonderful food, superb entertainment again from "Elvis" and a great time of fellowship and visiting. At this meeting I thanked the officers, the board and special workers, but as usual I failed to thank a very special person that has been so supportive of me and so willing and eager to do anything I ask of him. This is no other than Algie Broome. Algie furnishes us with a PA system anytime we need it, for outings, meetings, ect. He furnishes us with music when we ned it. He maintained the attendance counter and the music system at the State Fair again this year. Algie always has a smile on his face ad such willingness to do whatever he can for this club. Thank you algie for all you have done for me this year, and all you do for this club. I am sorry for not publicly thanking you Sat. night. We had a busy month with the Mississippi State Hospital parade at Whitfield, our check contribution to the Blair Batson Hospital and then the social "Highlight of the Year" the Christmas Dinner Party. Thank you all for supporting me as your President this year. It has been a very rewarding and fulfilling year. All of you have been very special to me and I have enjoyed working with each of you. I am looking forward to working with our new club leaders this next year and know we are going to have a wonderful 2004. Now, let's roll while having fun! Pat's Corner The Twelve Days of Christmas It is rumored that from 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their chirch. Each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality, which the children could remember. The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ Two turtledoves were the Old and New Testaments Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament The six geese a laying stood for the six days of creation Seven swans a swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit Prosphesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy The eight maids a milking we the eight beautitudes Nine ladies dancing we the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit-Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control The ten lords a leaping stood for the Ten Commandments The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful deciples the twelve drumers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in The Apostle's Creed I learned how this unique Christmas Carol came about and thought you would enjoy this too! Merry Christmas to you and your families, and a very Happy New Year Pat Clark On The Road: A saleswoman was driving toward home in Northen Arizona when she saw a Navajo woman hitchhiking. Because the trip had been long and quiet she stopped the car and gave her a ride. During their small talk the Navajo woman glances surreptitiously at a brown bag on the front seat between them. If you're whats in the bag, offers the saleswoman, ita a bottle of wine. I got it for my husband. The navajo woman was silent for a while. She nodded several times and softly said,... Good trade. Automotive Tip from Jane: Bounce laundry dryer sheets can be used to gte bugs off the bumpers. like the Louisiana Love Bugs.
