The car that you see here is a CMC Gazelle ('29 Mercedes SSK replicar) based on a '74 Ford Pinto drive train. When the piptone's acquired this car in 1999 it was at best a fugitive from a junkyard. They have spent hundreds of hours in a frame on restoration and rebuild. The front end, engine, 4 speed transmission, rear end, and braking system are all stock 1974 Pinto on a square tube frame with a fiberglass SSK (looks something like) body. The car was factory assembled by CMC in Florida in 1978 for the original owner in Texas, the second owner acquired the car in 1981. It was titled in MS. at that time where he used and abused it for about 11 years. In 1992 it was put in warehouse storage where it remained neglected until the Pipitone's found it and bought it in Nov. 1999. It had a 1992 MS. safety inspection sticker on it when they got it. Two years of restoration have been completed and it is now what you see in the photos. The Piptone's are very proud of their "toy car" even though the titles say 1981 They consider it a very strange looking antique (1974) Pinto.
